Arbitrary Detention Case Studies and Published UN Opinions
Published WGAD opinions offer powerful illustrations of how the five categories are applied. They are not automatically testimonials or cases handled by our team. A responsible case library must separate independent public precedents from client work performed by the project.
Why this matters
At launch, this section can show curated public-source research cards with opinion number, State, year, category and a short sourced summary. Actual client case studies may be added only once permission, provenance and outcome verification are complete.
How we approach the issue
Where the team has no public case studies ready, the site should provide a clear empty state and point visitors to official WGAD jurisprudence rather than using fictional case IDs, stock portraits or an invented 90% success rate.
Case studies must be real and individually verifiable
A case-study library is useful only when it explains what occurred, what the team actually did and what an independent source confirms. The existence of a publicly available WGAD opinion does not prove that this website's team represented the person involved. Until a case can be verified and disclosure authorised, the page should show a research-led overview rather than fabricated client testimonials.
What every future case study should contain
- Jurisdiction and dates disclosed at an appropriate level of precision.
- The detention issue and relevant procedural route.
- Scope of work personally performed by the team.
- Official documents or independently verifiable reference numbers.
- Exact procedural outcome, including limitations and any continuing detention.
- Written client consent and safe anonymisation when applicable.
| Outcome claimed | Minimum independent evidence | How to describe it |
|---|---|---|
| WGAD adopted an opinion | Official opinion number and text | Identify actual findings only |
| State released detainee | Reliable verified release record | Do not assume WGAD caused release |
| Court granted bail | Official domestic decision | State the precise order and conditions |
| International submission filed | Submission copy/receipt | Filing is not a successful merits outcome |
| Advocacy organisation responded | Verifiable correspondence, permission | Do not imply formal partnership |
The public page can link to the official WGAD opinions database for educational research. Actual client stories should be added only after editorial review, documentary verification and permission to publish.

Frequently asked questions
Are published opinions your past clients?
Not unless a case explicitly identifies and verifies the project’s role.
Does a favourable opinion mean the person was released?
No. Implementation must be documented separately.
Will private case details be disclosed?
Only in accordance with valid consent, applicable law and an appropriate safety assessment.
Share a case for assessment
A client case can be assessed without being publicly featured. We never publish case materials or claim outcomes without verification and appropriate authorisation. Request a confidential case assessment.
